organised by The Cyprus Institute (CyI-STARC, Nicosia) and the Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities (MiBAC)

STACHEM is a EU funded project coordinated by the Cyprus Institute. Its aim is to build a network of eastern Mediterranean institutions approaching archaeology by different point of view: underwater archaeology, archaeometry, digital heritage.

The Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities is partner of STACHEM and responsible of Working Package WP4 Digital Heritage. Up to know, the Ministry has already realised an inventory of existing infrastructures for the digitisation of archaeological and cultural heritage artefacts in the Eastern Mediterrenean.

The Cyprus Institute (CyI-STARC, Nicosia) and the Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities (MiBAC) are organising the Regional STACHEM Workshop on Infrastructures for Digitisation in Archaeology and Cultural Heritage in the Eastern Mediterranean, which will take place in Paestum next 20 November 2009, in the occasion of the XII Borsa Mediterranea del Turismo Archeologico (http://www.borsaturismo.com/), in the ARISTON Exhibition Center.

This workshop, opened to the participation of interested people, aims at bringing together representatives of leading institutions dealing with the digitisation of cultural heritage in the Eastern Mediterranean countries, invited to report on national infrastructures and activities for digitisation.
