Biografie
CASTELLI | Donatella Castelli is a Senior Researcher working at Istituto di Scienza e Tecnologie della Informazione “A. Faedo” of the Italian National Research Council (CNR-ISTI). She has been the principal investigator of several European and National funded projects on digital libraries and data e-Infrastructure acquiring considerable experience in these domains. Currently, she is acting as technical director of the EU OpenAIREPlus project. She is also the scientific director of the EU iMarine project and of the corresponding data infrastructure. Her scientific interests are centered on data modeling, data interoperability and data infrastructures. She is a member of the RDA Europe Expert Group that promotes research and cross-infrastructure coordination at global level. |
CAVALLI | Valentino Cavalli manages the Amsterdam office of the GÉANT Association - formerly the Trans-European Research and education Networking Association, (TERENA). TERENA joined forces with DANTE to form the GÉANT Association on 7 October 2014. The GÉANT Association is owned by its core membership, which includes 36 National Members (NRENs) and one Representative Member. Associates are also welcome and include commercial organisations and multi-national research infrastructures and projects. TERENA's activities to support collaboration, innovation and knowledge sharing for the benefit of research and education, including TNC - Europe’s largest networking conference in the sector, continue in the work of the GÉANT Association. Valentino Cavalli joined TERENA as a Project Development Officer in 1999, becoming the Chief Technical Officer in 2008 and Acting Secretary General in 2012. Valentino was involved in projects addressing network connectivity and services for the research and education community and was responsible for coordinating the R&D activities of TERENA as well as leading various collaboration activities and tasks in the GÉANT Project, including supporting emerging NRENs. Born in Italy and having graduated in philosophy, before joining TERENA Valentino was R&D manager for Omega Generation a private Italian start up. |
KRAUWER | Steven Krauwer is the Executive Director of CLARIN ERIC. Degree in mathematics with linguistics as secondary subject; researcher and lecturer in computational and mathematical linguistics since 1972; worked on EU projects since 1980. Coordinator of ELSNET (Network of Excellence in Language and Speech, bringing together language and speech technology on the one hand, and academia and industry on the other) from 1994 till 2005, coordinator of the CLARIN Preparatory Phase project from 2008 till 2011, and Executive Director of CLARIN ERIC since 2012. |
MAEGAARD | Bente Maegaard is vice Executive Director of CLARIN ERIC. Bente Maegaard is a professor at the University of Copenhagen where she heads the Centre for Language Technology. Her areas of expertise are in particular research infrastructure, language resources and tools, and machine translation. Bente Maegaard has been project coordinator of many national and European research projects (EUROMAP, HOPE, NEMLAR, MEDAR). She is member of the ESFRI strategic working group for humanities and social sciences. |
MESSA | Cristina Messa è Vice Presidente del Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) e dal 1° ottobre 2013 è Rettore dell’Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca, dove è Professore Ordinario di Diagnostica per Immagini. Impegnata sin dagli inizi nella ricerca biomedica, ha via via acquisito particolare esperienza nella gestione e valorizzazione di progetti e infrastrutture di ricerca. A luglio 2013 è stata nominata dal Ministro dell’Istruzione, dell’Università e della Ricerca tra i delegati italiani per Horizon 2020, il nuovo Programma quadro dell’Unione Europea per la Ricerca e l’Innovazione. Mentre a settembre 2013 è stata nominata dal Ministro della Salute tra i componenti del Consiglio Superiore di Sanità. La sua attività scientifica è stata quasi interamente dedicata alla ricerca di tecniche e metodi diagnostici per l’ottimizzazione della diagnosi, prognosi e terapia di numerose patologie del Sistema Nervoso Centrale e delle neoplasie. |
PEZZATI | Graduated in Physics in 1990 at the University of Florence, and Specialised in Optics in 1995. Since 1995 with INO-CNR (the National Institute for Optics of the National Research Council of Italy, http://www.ino.it) where he is Head of the Research Unit in Lecce. He started the Gruppo Beni Culturali (Art Diagnostic Group) of INO in 1998 and coordinated it for 14 years. He has managed many research projects for CNR in the field of optical technologies applied to Cultural Heritage. In 1998 he started the “Optical Metrology Laboratory for the Diagnostic of Cultural Heritage” at OPD-Opificio delle Pietre Dure in Florence, an infrastructure operated jointly by INO and OPD. Currently he is coordinator of IPERION CH.it-The Italian Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science, and National Coordinator for Italy in DARIAH-ERIC (http://www.dariah.eu). Among his research interests: optics applied to the safeguard of Cultural Heritage; optical metrology; 3D-measuring optical techniques; optical systems design; data-analysis techniques and scientific software design. |
POZZO | Director of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Cultural Heritage of the National Research Council of Italy. Member of the International Institute of Philosophy and honorary member of the International Association for Comparative Study of China and the West. He is currently chairing the Program Committee of the Beijing 2018 World Congress of Philosophy. RACINE | Bruno Racine has been Chairman and Chief Executive of the Bibliothèque nationale de France, the French National Library, since March 2007. Born in Paris in 1951, Bruno Racine studied at the most prestigious French grandes écoles, the Ecole normale supérieure, where he studied Classics, the Institut d'études politiques, and finally the Ecole nationale d'Administration (ENA), which forms France's elite civil servants. Bruno Racine joined the Cour des Comptes, the French national audit jurisdiction, in 1979, before being appointed in 1986 to the Cabinet of Jacques Chirac, then Prime Minister. From 1988 to 1993, he was Director of Cultural Affairs of the city of Paris. In 1993, he headed the Centre d'analyse et de prévision at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, before joining the Cabinet of Alain Juppé, then Prime Minister, where Mr Racine was in charge of strategic and cultural issues (1995-1997). Bruno Racine headed the French Academy at the Villa Médicis in Rome from 1997 to 2002, before being appointed Chairman of the Pompidou Centre (2002-2007). In September 2011, he was elected Chairman of the Conference of European National Libraries (CENL). A distinguished author, Bruno Racine has written many books, among which are Google et le nouveau monde (2010), Le Côté d'Odessa (2007), Le Tombeau de la Chrétienne (2002), L'Art de vivre en Toscane (2000), Le Gouverneur de Morée (1982). |
ROSSI | Giorgio Rossi is Professor of Physics at the Università degli Studi di Milano; he leads the APE group at IOM and Elettra performing research in surface and interface science and operating advanced beamlines and instrumentation open to users. He is co-author of about 200 scientific articles with H-index 29. He coordinates the Nano Foundries and Fine Analysis European infrastructure project since 2008 and the Italian NFFA Demonstrator at Trieste. He is serving as vice-president of ESFRI and Chair of the Physical Science and Engineering Strategy Work Group and he is the Italian Delegate to the GSO of G8+5 on Global Research Infrastructures. |
SABBIONI | Cristina Sabbioni (Doctor in Physics). Director of the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Climate (ISAC) within the Italian National Research Council (CNR). Her main scientific interests are on material-atmosphere interactions, effects of climate and multi-pollutants on cultural heritage, damage evaluation and risk assessment. The principal results obtained on these topics have been presented at international conferences and published in international scientific reviews.(180 papers). She has been project leader in national CNR projects and EU projects on damage to Cultural Heritage since 1984. She has been Chairperson of the Expert Advisory Group (EAG) of the Key Action ‘The City of Tomorrow and Cultural Heritage’ within the 5th EU FP. She is Professor of ‘Environmental Physics’ at the University of Bologna. She is Member of the Executive Board, appointed by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR), and of the Coordination Structure, appointed by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Activities and Tourism (MIBACT), of the Joint Programming Initiative (JPI) “Cultural Heritage and Global Change: a new Challenge for Europe” coordinated by Italy since 2010. |
STANČIČ | Dr. Zoran Stančič is Deputy Director-General in the European Commission, DG CONNECT since 2009. Trained as an engineer he started his professional career as a research assistant at the Department of Archaeology, University of Ljubljana. In 1994 he was employed as the Head of the Spatial Information Centre of the Scientific Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts and Associate Professor at the Department of Geodesy. From 1990 till 2000 he was a research fellow or visiting professor at the University of Arkansas, the Delft University of Technology, the University of Reading, the Boston University, the University of Trieste and the University of Paris. Zoran Stančič has published seven scientific books and a number of scientific papers on quantitative methods in archaeology and remote sensing. During 1999 - 2000 he was Deputy Director of the Scientific Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts. From the year 2000 to 2004 he was State Secretary for Science at the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport in Slovenia. In the period 2004 - 2009 he served as Deputy Director-General in the European Commission, DG Research. |
| THEOFILATOU Maria | Her educational background is in economics and political sciences, European integration and policy-making. Since July 1998, she has been working at the European Commission in the Directorate General for Research and Innovation. She is currently working in the Unit B4-Research Infrastructures. She is responsible for EU research infrastructure (RI) activities in the domain (s) of Social Sciences and Humanities. She is representing the European Commission at the Strategic Working Group of the European Strategy Forum for Research Infrastructures (ESFRI) on "Social and Cultural Innovation". She follows up EU activities related to the implementation of the ESFRI Roadmap and new European Research Infrastructures for the Art, Culture and Humanities (i.e. DARIAH, CLARIN). She also follows up EU funded activities aiming at the integration and opening of research infrastructures located in various institutions and countries in order to support researchers to carry out historical and archaeological research and research for art restoration and preservation (i.e. CENDARI, ARIADNE, CHARISMA). |
